Conditions:
Lake conditions have been unpredictable with calm water one day and white caps the next. Conditions permitting, perch fishing continues to be good to excellent in 45-50' of water off of Godfrey Run and the Peninsula light house. Walleye action has been sporadic with the best catches coming from the shallower waters west of Walnut Creek. A few wishful anglers have been spotted at the mouth of Trout Run already in search of the season's first Steelhead but nothing has been reported yet. Tributary levels are at a trickle at present with no indications of any "staging" at the mouths. Typically the best bet for early season Steelhead is at night off the wall along the Walnut Creek Channel.

Fish Fry:
The annual Walnut Creek Fish Fry is scheduled for September 8th starting at 1:00 PM at the Walnut Creek Access office. This growing annual event has been an overwhelming success over the last few years. A sign up sheet is up at the Walnut Access office for those attending and the dish you will be bringing. Cleaned fish are needed and as always, our gourmet chefs will do the cooking. Bring your outdoor chairs, a tasty dish to share and your appetite. For more details and a list of items needed you can call the Walnut Creek Access office at (814)-833-2464

Thank you:
Boaters again are to be commended for their cooperation and courtesy during and after the Celebrate Erie Fireworks this past weekend. The Coast Guard and the PFBC reported little to no probes with the hundreds of boaters enjoying the festivities this year.

Fishermen & Boaters Night...
Tuesday, August 27th @ 7:05 P< is appreciation night for those who love Lake Erie at the Erie Seawolves Baseball Game when they play the Altoona Curve. Reserved Seat tickets are $3.00/each and may be acquired by calling Holly St. George @ 456-1300.

Lake conditions have been pretty rough throughout much of the last week; however, here's a quick look at what we've got going on...

Perch:
Well, looks like they're back again! Anglers have been catching Perch again in approximately 46' of water from McCord's Point through Freeport. Many catches have been averaging 10"-12" in length.

Bass:
Try for these, suspended, in 25' - 40' of water in that same area as Perch as well as north of North East Marina.

Walleye:
'schools'... Give them a try in 45' - 50' of water throughout East County waters.
Many anglers have reported catches in the 18" - 22" range.
'deep water'... Look for these catches in 105' - 110' of water.

Steelhead:
Reports are beginning to come in referencing catches in 118' of water and at a depth of 65' below the surface. Baits of choice appear to be black/purple spoons as well as those which are chartreuse and chrome.

Pymatuning Lake-The weather this last week has really slowed fishing down with extremely warm days and nights that's haven't been cooling off and little or no rain fall. Some anglers have still been making the best of it and taking the kids to the spillway area for some action with bread balls and Carp. Bluegills are still doing well also if you work the edges towards evening. Water temps this last week have reached up into the high 80's and low 90's and with water that warm they are just not active.
Conneaut Lake-Most of the activity here has included boating, with the warm weather it has really brought out the boating traffic and decreased the number of fishermen. There was a couple of fishermen out Saturday that I spoke with however they relayed that they were not having much luck and attributed it to all the traffic.
Over the last week with the increase of warm weather we have seen an increase in boating traffic and boating violations taking place in Western Crawford County. I personally have dealt with numerous summary violations and a BUI and BUI/DUI. Still after all this the number of people that say "well if you had only been here an hour ago you would have seen someone really breaking the law, where were you then?" My response to that is why haven't you called. In an effort to once again let the public have access to my numbers I am including them in this report, however please remember we cannot patrol 24 hours a day seven days a week and cover our whole district while we are doing it. Call if you spot a violation and we will be there as soon as possible.
